ever since i’ve started using mozilla’s thunderbird, i’ve been pretty impressed by how well it handles junk mail through adaptive filtering. but in looking through my junk mail folder today, i was more impressed by the creativity of the names of the “senders”. if some comic book writer isn’t hijacking these, then they are missing out on some great character names:

Captaining A. Furniture
Brim G. Keyboard
Colanders U. Cablegrams
Misdiagnose I. Infidelity
Miscalculation M. Pimp
Townspeople V. Breastbone

and my personal favorite,
Fetishist S. Snippet

after posting the link to the traffic cam earlier today, i figured i should go ahead and whip up a quick webpage that would let me check out my drive to work conditions. since i really only use about a 2 mile stretch of the interstate (connecting one exit to the next) the NCDOT cams work perfectly for me.

apparently ozzy osbourne was having some trouble sleeping at night. the cause? not drugs, not alcohol….but just that he drank too much coffee.

snow day part 2

apparently a large majority of north carolina drivers are freaking idiots. my friend paul actually considered sleeping at his office after hearing horror stories about people trying to make it home.

it’s important to note that this is with LESS THAN A FREAKING INCH (yes , INCH!!!) of snow accumulated on the ground.

if you’re looking for visual evidence, the picture below shows that really it’s only people who live in raleigh that are idiots apparently. people in durham (or at least traveling to durham, and who would want to go there unless you lived there….) seem to be able to drive just fine.

luckily, this is what the same intersection looks like now:

my friends jen and naomi just got back from San Francisco, where they took a gocar out for a spins about town. i had heard about these things but never even seen a picture of one. they look pretty neat, and apparently have about the power of a moped.

i have screwed up my foot royally. it’s big and swollen and hurts when i walk on it.

enough whining.

snow day

well, it’s snowing here in NC right now. well, actually it’s let up a lot. there’s some snow on the roads, but it doesn’t look too terribly dangerous. snow is so rare here, though that they’ve asked us to come to work at 10:30 AM tomorrow…a nice little sleep in will be in order.

which i may need after trivia tonight.

repercussions

last week i got a call from the sears credit fraud protection division saying they had some questions regarding my account. the kicker…i don’t HAVE a sears account. so i call them back, and it turns out that someone out there has enough personal information on me to get credit cards…that’s right, my social security number and everything…so i got the card cancelled, and then got a fraud alert added to my credit report so that no one else could try to get credit without my authorization. i thought everything was fine and good…until i checked my mailbox yesterday and i had a dillard’s credit card show up. sure enough, the identity thief had used my info to get a line of credit at dillard’s as well. they however weren’t quite as astute as the sears people and let the guy ring up charges totally something close to 800 bucks. so now they’ve opened an investigative case and i can hopefully get that taken care of. this could be a really nasty year for me.

and i know this is probably freaking out my mom and dad (who do read my blog…) so i’ll just go ahead and say that i’m doing everything i can do to get things fixed.
