No free wifi to be found near the hotel in Atlanta, and i didn’t take a lot of pictures anyway…
it was an absoulte blast. i really don’t think this event is about the games. i only played 29 different games (some of them multiple times, but probably a total of only 40 games maximum). the thing is, i really don’t care, because it’s really about the people. it’s so great to be able to see people that really enjoy your hobby with the same intensity that you do. there’s tons of people that made the event great for me, but ssuper special shout outs have to go to the guys that put the shebang together; stven, lionel, and bryan. without them, the event wouldn’t have been nearly as much fun, nor as well organized and smooth running as it seems to be.
Here’s the Wrap-Up:
Total number of games played: 29
* Indicates New to me:
Einfach Genial
My first game of the Oasis…and i lost.
Ticket to Ride Europe
Played with Jessica, John H., and Justin. I lost, but got in a lot of not so subtle jokes.
Expedition
Again, I lost. This time though, it was because i didn’t promise to make everyone cookies.
Pickomino
Yup. I lost.
*Verflixxt
I played this game twice. Neither time did I really care for it, but I’d play it if asked. Or if I got a cookie. I didn’t win either game.
Hornochsen
I picked up exactly zero cards…which means i didn’t lose. but i didn’t do so bad.
*Geshenkt
Super quick little game. I lost all three times i played it.
Electronic Taboo
Catchphrase
Both of these i think i might have been on the winning team. but i don’t recall entirely
*Crazy Bluff
it’s not so crazy. and not so good either.
micropul
tami and i played. it was late. i think she won.
polarity
i won, though i wasn’t good at explaining the rules to justin. thankfully, i can blame the rulebook.
jungle speed
far too early for dexterity games? i think not.
*himalaya
this was the only new game the whole weekend i felt like was worth tracking down a copy.
kaleidos
it’s like scattergories with pictures. i got to use the word butt.
boomtown
chris comeaux complained the whole time about the game and then ended up winning. i really like this game. especially the dynamite.
*louis XIV
i picked it up off the prize table, but it will probably make a reappearance on another prize table sometime soon. the company was good to play with, but i found the game itself a little lacking.
hamsterrolle
i played this with john tamplin and justin. i lost.
oodles
i was kicking ass and then the prize table interrupted.
*diamant
another game which i may have to get. the proble is it seems like way too much set up for such little action. it could have just as easily been made with simpler elements. overproduction at its finest.
*music mystery
i was fortunate enough to have chris comeaux, john haugh, earl bailey and sandi west on my team. we won. and chris does a really great mick jagger impression.
*linq
i think i was falling asleep as i was playing this. not that the game was boring, but it was after we had returned from the waffle house at about 5 am.
africa
i lost handily.
carcassonne the city
i beat tami. that’s all that’s important.
