so i went to mr. toads anniversary party today. checked out their new roaster, drank some espresso, drank some beer, talked about coffee, ate some food, talked more about coffee. pretty good stuff overall.

i also got a chance to see bobbie and viv at all fun and games, since i forgot that the time changed and ended up in cary an hour too early. a fortunate event for me.

yesterday i went to kims house…which is incredibly cool, by the way…for some punkin carving action. my punkin ended up getting deep fried, which was much tastier than i expected it to be. everyone else made some pretty hot carvings, though my personal preference has to be for brian’s cyclops pumpkin. it’s so cute and goofy looking.

i also learned that nicola has no intestinal flora, but loves fig cake.

not that it will probably matter, but just to seem all professional and stuff…

tomorrow night (saturday 29 october 05) from 9-midnight pacific time typepad, the service i use to host this wondrous garbage, will be taken semi-offline.

you’ll be able to read the blog still (hooray!) but i won’t be able to update it (no big deal, i will probably be either out or asleep anyway) and you won’t be able to make comments (booooo…)

consider yourselves warned

the original

the original blinkingline journal was an e-zine of short experimental (some might say VERY experimental) fiction. i worked on the zine with several friends for a little over a year in college. some of the stuff in it was good. some of it was not so good. now you can read all 8 issues at your leisure. all of them are in raw text format, which was how they were originally presented.

enjoy.

maybe…and keep in mind the original disclaimer:

note: Don’t be alarmed if you hapen to stumblle acros a chance
speling eror; we aim to plese as many as posible and sume
individuals antualy enjoy looking for them.

individual pieces are the works of their creators, who conveniently enough always used aliases. we would also “borrow” some things from books we were interested at the time, but we always credited the true sources. this means it would be damn near easy to steal this stuff and claim it as your own. but please don’t. you can site my website as the source, if you want/need/whatever.

we never finished printing the rest of the mccoy tyner interview either. bummer.

it’s like a whacked out version of poe’s purloined letter.

first a guy dies in his car in a parking lot….and a cop gives him a ticket.

then,

a lady commits suicide…and neighbors mistake it for a halloween decoration.

not an official review, but today i’m drinking some Costa Rica Dota from Zoka. Man is it sweet. we brewed it up in our big urn and it reminded me of sugar smacks.

good turn out at trivia night last night…and i still can’t believe someone really wants me to start posting recaps of the questions. that makes me so….accountable.

i was also requested to put up purchase information for the col0mbia huila that i reviewed the other day. you can pick it up in the sanctuary line at whole foods markets, or at most other retail markets (weaver street, southern season, etc.) if you’re desperate, you can even order it online.

A NUN’S STORY

A cab driver picks up a nun. She gets into the
cab, and the cab driver won’t stop staring at her. She
asks him why he is staring and he replies, “I have a
question to ask you but I don’t want to offend you.”

She answers: “My dear son, you cannot offend me.
When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long
as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about
everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say
or ask that I would find offensive.”

“Well, I’ve always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.”
She responds, “Well, let’s see what we can do
about that: #1, you have to be single and #2 you must
be a Catholic.”

The cab driver is very excited and says, “Yes, I
am single and I’m Catholic too!”

The nun says, “OK, pull into the next alley.”
He does and the nun fulfills his fantasy. But when
they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.
“My dear child.” said the nun, “Why are you crying?”

“Forgive me sister, but I have sinned. I lied, I
must confess, I’m married and a I’m a Baptist.”
The nun says, “That’s OK, I am on the way to a
Halloween party, and my name is Kevin.”
