you can lay me
excuse me…i mean ukelele
this weeks topic will be all about space. just space. that’s it.
yes. a dc report will follow. sheesh. stop pestering so much.
i’m back from dc. it was a really fun trip, but also pretty exhausting. got to see some old friends, meet some new ones, talk about coffee, drink coffee, and all sorts of other good stuff that i’m really too spacey to put into words right now.
the very few pictures i took will be up later today.
apparently does exist.
several people apparently have received flyers about it here at coffeefest. much love to the rev for his very creative and imaginative propaganda promoting the club.
i <3 my fans.
the maddeningness of dc’s streets is ridiculous, and i’m not even doing the driving. brian took almost an hour to find our second night hotel…it’s stupid crazy here.
i was doing the barista certification workshop. seems like a really good crew of judges overall. lots of familiar names…
today will be the first round of competition, and i’ll be judging the second session. right now i’m getting ready to have breakfast with peter and then i’ll hopefully go watch some of the latte art competition. should be fun.
brian and i have just arrived and checked into our hotel in dc.
dc has about the most bass ackward road system ever. if you can avoid driving in the city, i encourage this at all costs.
so i’m finishing up some work i have to do before heading up for dc. this won’t be like the trip to hawaii…there will be good coffee, people i know, a lot more traffic, colder weather, and, most importantly, i’ll have internet access which i’ll try to remember to use to update the blog and send photos and stuff.
if you’re lucky.
don’t forget trivia night tonight. drink some beer in my honor. then make fun of james and make out with random people in the parking lot.
for those of you that like sci-fi guru phillip k. dick, the trailer to the richard linklater movie, a scanner darkly is up now.
after the post yesterday, nancy wrote to make sure that i knew about this book:

which contains some pretty funny pictures.
like this one:

this one:

and my personal fave:

beforewarned. i’m going to drop the f-bomb:
i was talking to josh tonight who’s doing pretty well for himself out in LA now. and it reminded me of this story:

josh was playing at the coffeeshop on franklin. he comes over to take my picture, at which point drunk girl (notice the spilled beverage running down her chest?) and josh have this conversation:
“who’s that guy?”
“that? that’s gee barger!”
“is he famous?”
“fuck yeah he is!”
at which point she sits down to weasel in on the pictures.
