tonight’s round 2 should be very simple.  there they’re all 50/50 choices, you just have to identify if it has to do with star trek, or star wars.

piece of cake.

happy memorial day everyone.

the house has been sold as of thursday. as in, it is now no longer in my possession…no under contract, no sale pending, etc. just plain old gone. very much a relief.

saw a few movies this weekend: squid and the whale, matchpoint, and x-men 3

squid and the whale was good. a bit heavy on hyperrealism, but still not bad at all. think royal tenenbaums but without most of the funny parts. it’s got a kid stealing a pink floyd song (”but you didn’t write it” “yes, but i feel i could have”) and a beer swilling chronic masturbating 10 year old.

matchpoint was ok. i liked the ending, and i liked seeing the beautifulness of scarlet johannsen and jonathan rhys-myers working together. i didn’t care for the woody allen directorial style, but then, i usually don’t.

x-men 3… great. big. letdown. though taken on its own it might have been OK, you simply have to compare it to the first 2, and in that frame of things, it was pretty disappointing.

s.r. leroux has abandoned his triweekly biweekly updates to put more details in his strips. they’ve apparently gotten a crapload weirder, as well, if this latest installment is any indicator. nice work.

if you don’t have the courage to use your real name or at least something recognizable when leaving a comment, don’t expect me to leave it up.

two good bits of news on my dogs that i gave up when i moved:

1) lucy has been adopted! my special little girl has a new home. i’m so happy to see that she’s got a new place to live.
2) earl, the sweet old man that he is, is now at the top of the available dogs, and he was given a “volunteer pick of the week” back in april. it’s not just me that thinks he’s a special guy.

if you know of someone looking for a special friend, be sure to check out the aps of durham’s website.

OK…this is the topic for round 2 for real this time.

I’ll give you a band, and you have to name anyone else in the band besides the most prominent member…(don’t worry, i’ll also give you who is NOT acceptable.)

should be interesting.

housing opportunity

in another of pass it along style posts, my friend naomi is looking for a roommate. if anyone is interested, send me an email, and i’ll get you in touch with her:

I am a 31-year old professional and p/t student, looking for someone to
share a 1930 bungalow (that is in great shape) - the house is 1250 sf,
the bedroom is average size with 2 closets and a ceiling fan and the
house has 2 living rooms, an office area and a big fenced back yard.
The kitchen is pretty big and there is a utility room with a washer,
dryer and utility sink. It is a comfortable and friendly home and I’d
like to share it with a friendly person. I am pretty social, but the
house is laid out in a way that there is space for more than one person
to be in it at a time without intruding on each other. It is reasonably
clean & quiet here, but occasionally there is friends and/or antics
(but it is always respectful). I have 2 nice youngish female cats -
they like to hang around but they aren’t very cuddly (but they are
definitely still entertaining) - I don’t think one of them would
welcome any new animals, so I’m looking for a roommate that doesn’t
have pets. One of the living rooms is pretty ‘decorated’ but I don’t
have an attachment to any of the stuff in the other room, so if you
have living room furniture, there is a place for it. My roommate of 2
years is moving to Boston, so I’m looking for someone new and I can
provide roommate references. The house is near the CostCo on Broad St -
you can easily walk to Duke East Campus, Whole Foods, 9th St, Broad
Street Cafe (and it gets easier all the time as they get more done on
the construction). There is a bus stop a few houses down. It is also
walking distance to Edison Johnson (pool and pottery classes) and the
Life & Science museum, and all the stuff in the North Pointe
shopping center.
