so now that i’m not working for counter culture anymore, i’ve actually had to make some coffee investments. it used to be that i could just go in to work, grind up a nice little press and suck it down. or make some nice shots of espresso, or a capp, or really just about anything. but now tat i’m in the corporate world, it’s all commercial coffee and 25 cent vended coffee. yes. 25 cents. and yes. it is fucking disgusting.
so i bought a travel mug last week vowed to take in coffee from a french press. which worked out ok. sort of. since our house still has pipes from when it was originally built n the 40’s, i felt remiss about trying to wash grounds down the sink (we don’t have a disposal), so i was just tossing them away (we don’t have a compost heap because frankly, i’m too lazy to use compost…hell, i’m too lazy to garden.) after filtering them through a paper towel. it was pretty messy, and definitely inconvenient if i wanted to utilize my extra sleep time that corporate america affords me over crack of dawn coffee.
add to that the fact that the travel mug i bought was an utter piece of shit, and my coffee experience wasn’t nearly what i was hoping for.
so today i took a plunge and bought one of the really nice timolino mugs from 3 cups. pricey, yes, but they are super sleek and stylish. just like me. and they were nice enough to toss in a fill up of some png red mountain.
after that, i went to a southern season (ass) and picked up a melitta pot. since i lost a chemex in a breakup, i’ve been wanting to replace it, but frankly, i’ve always enjoyed the covenience of the cleanup of the melitta over the chemex, and the quality of the coffee i think can be very good out of both, when made properly.
so now i’m geared up and reay for monday morning to roll round so that i can enjoy some delicious brew.
