the idea is older than we thought

So I open my new National Geographic to lay my peepers on this. Looks like a chicken with a gentleman’s head. Looks surprisingly similar to this:

From my post about Runny Bunny a while back! What the what?
Turns out, Sir Chicken is a total mystery. He is part of Afghanistan’s wealth of artifacts hidden for years of turmoil. He may have arrived there through trade, he may be indigenous, he may be from Mars. Isn’t he the greatest??

Envy - Part 5 of 5
Here is the final installment. I know that many of you have NOT enjoyed this type of extended update. Not to worry, because although I enjoyed the challenge of trying to keep a consistent look over a period of weeks, I found the whole endeavor a bit drawn out. Meaning, I don’t think the payoff was worth waiting five (or in this case) six weeks. So I won’t be trying this again any time soon. That being said, please let me know what you think of the final product. I’m not sure I pulled off the final couple of panels all that well, but hopefully the point got across.
If you haven’t been keeping up with my blog (and you wished you were), please stop in (link above). I’ve been trying to update it Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Next week: A whole new adventure! See you then.

homeland security

Somehow I stumbled on Australian artist Kerry Smith’s flickr account last night, and I think this installation is the coolest. It’s about security and insecurity in a time of fear, and all objects in the room are covered in blankets.

i remember when
there was a time when i really enjoyed a jelly doughnut. then i got a job working for krispy kreme and had to make the jelly doughnuts…something about the way the raspberry goo would desolidify as it got warm was just unnerving.
